Improvements

  • Better on-host integrations SDK support including pre-creating some require directories, skipping ill-configured integrations, and fixes around how the command for an integration definition is parsed.

Bug fixes

  • Optimization fixes for the amount of time needed to check whether on a cloud instance. Should try once and timeout quickly. Optional disable_cloud_metadata can be used if you need to force turn off collection of cloud-specific metadata.

Improvements

  • Improved handling for configuration files syntax.
  • Agent can recover more gracefully when inventory information is ill formed.
  • lp.exe plugin (Windows Programs Inventory) significantly more performant.
  • Entities (hosts) are less likely to get combined unexpectedly when starting Agent from AMIs or other images.
  • Warns if you try to use "localhost" as the hostname.
  • Network interface information captured as inventory.

Improvements

  • Test if the configured license is obviously not correct.
  • Check network availability at startup to ascertain agent can communicate with New Relic.
  • Additional verbose logging for debugging network data.
  • Added an event_queue_depth config option (default 1000) to support hosts with high numbers of processes (100s or more). Adjust this number in increments of 1000 if you see "Queue full" messages in the logs. Will require a restart of the agent to take effect.

New features

  • Added an agent_config plugin that reports the agent's config file as inventory.

Improvements

  • Added more diagnostic logging when using verbose mode.
  • Added configs to adjust the frequency of certain inventory plugins. Here we show the name of the config, the default sampling period in seconds, and the fastest the plugin will sample (its "floor". You should only change these values if advised by New Relic Support.
    • sysctl_interval_sec, default: 10, floor: 10
    • daemontools_interval_sec, default: 15, floor: 10
    • supervisor_interval_sec, default: 15, floor: 10

Improvements

  • Added new field total_ram to metadata/system/system for Linux that reports the amount of ram installed on the machine.
  • Added new fields total_cpu and total_cores to metadata/system/system inventory for Linux that reports the total number of processors on the machine and the total number of cores (number of cores x number of processors).
  • Added CPU steal field cpuStealPercent to SystemSample.
