New Relic One: Core UI components

New Relic One has some basic UI functions that are widely available across the platform. Understanding these features will help you find and analyze your data more easily.

The home page

The New Relic One home page helps you quickly find data and get where you need to go.

Some important things to know:

  • Access the home page from any New Relic One location by clicking New Relic One at the top left.
  • The home page gives you quick links to important locations, including the entity explorer, dashboards, distributed tracing, and a discovery center that explains how to use New Relic One.
  • Links to New Relic APM, Mobile, Browser, and other products are at the bottom of the page.
  • Customize your home page by favoriting entities and dashboards (selecting the star icon). The favorited items will be featured on your page.

The primary New Relic One search bar lets you search for data from across all of New Relic.

Some important things to know:

  • You can find it at the top of all New Relic One locations.
  • You can search across all New Relic accounts you have access to. For more on cross-account access, see Cross-account security.
  • Short-lived entities are available in search for 8 days after they cease to exist.

Chart and query features

Here are some data analysis features available across most of New Relic One:

  • Create queries. Select Chart builder from the top of any New Relic One page to start querying your data.
  • Add a chart to a dashboard. You can add most New Relic One charts to a new or existing dashboard.
  • View a chart's query. For some charts, you can view the NRQL query used to generate that chart. You can use this to understand a chart better or use it as the basis for a new query.

To see all features available for a chart, select the ellipses icon.

See account information and get help

The account dropdown is located at the top right, beside your user name. Use this to see:

  • User preferences
  • Account settings
  • Support and documentation links
