Accelerate incident investigation with New Relic Autopilot

July 21, 2026

Autopilot is New Relic AI's operations assistant that helps to: investigate incidents, find likely root causes, and recommend next steps in order to help reduce MTTR like never before.

New Relic Autopilot is here, and it changes what an on-call shift feels like. When a service degrades, the clock starts, and every minute of manual investigation is a minute of potential customer impact. Site reliability engineers (SREs) know the drill: pivot across dashboards, scan logs, check recent deployments, hunt down the right runbook, and page relevant people to help troubleshoot. Autopilot collapses that scramble into a single, guided investigation.

New Relic Autopilot is an AI-powered operational assistant that helps engineering and operations teams investigate incidents, identify probable root causes, recommend next actions, and help accelerate resolution. Autopilot explains its reasoning during these steps to help achieve the desired result of lowering mean time to resolution and reducing operational toil for the engineers carrying the pager.

Point Autopilot at an alert and it can help:

  • Triage and validate alerts against historical baselines and current health, so you can investigate and determine whether an event is real or noise.
  • Summarize the health of a service or a group of related entities, with links to the underlying telemetry so you can verify findings.
  • Pinpoint potential regressions, new error patterns, and latency introduced by recent deployments.
  • Traverse distributed traces, logs, and infrastructure metrics to help isolate the likely cause and blast radius.
  • Recommend remediation, such as a deployment rollback, for you to review, evaluate, and approve.

Built for the way SREs actually work

Autopilot gets sharper the more it knows about your environment. Connect New Relic AI Knowledge so that the agent can reference your runbooks, retrospectives, and Confluence docs in investigations, so that agent recommendations can better reflect how your team actually operates or potentially surface the fix that worked in a similar scenario last time. Turn on Memories so that Autopilot stores and can reference your saved preferences, past resolutions, and environment quirks across sessions, so you can build on your history and expertise.

Investigate without leaving the conversation

With the Slack integration, mention the New Relic app in any channel to triage an alert, check an entity, or run a multi-turn investigation right in the thread, using your New Relic permissions. This helps the relevant team stay in the loop, so that issues can be resolved where the work is already happening.
