Whether you are a developer, operations expert, or digital business leader, you need to quickly see and act on rapid changes in your app's ecosystem. But you often don't have time to drill down through the extensive dashboards across New Relic products to find what is most relevant to you.
Using New Relic Seymour as your daily, centralized information center, you can quickly gain insights into your environment. You can also easily share that information via Slack with others.
Seymour is currently available in limited release for approved New Relic accounts. If you have access to Seymour, it will be visible in the navigation bar at the top of the New Relic UI at rpm.newrelic.com.
Personalized, live feed
Seymour provides a personalized, live feed about your software and cloud environment. Using a form of artificial intelligence, Seymour's machine learning capabilities detect what data is important to you and adjust accordingly. Your personalized feed may include:
- New apps or hosts reporting to New Relic
- Unusually low memory, anomalous behavior with root cause analysis, or other potential problems
- Data trends, such as top app performance, changes in global traffic, week over week performance and slowdowns, etc.
You can also make up-votes or down-votes to manage the types of content in your feed, making Seymour smarter and more relevant over time.
Functionality behind the feed
New Relic collects and analyzes millions of events in the proprietary software analytics cloud. Seymour uses a collection of algorithms to examine the wealth of information across all New Relic products and how you use it, and then uses predictive capabilities across the entire digital intelligence platform to present just the data you care about the most.
Seymour takes into account a variety of signals that inform what and how often a personalized feed communicates to individual users, such as:
- The applications, hosts, and features in New Relic that you often use
- What Seymour cards you select and view
- Up-votes and down-votes of Seymour cards
Additional customization and sharing
Every user needs to see different information depending on their roles, responsibilities, and interests. In addition, different stakeholders and teams need to collaborate about different aspects of your software, whether it's troubleshooting bottlenecks, performance enhancements, alertable conditions, memory and CPU levels, or all of the above.
Seymour learns what to place in your feed by how you use it. You can also change settings to customize your feed.
In addition, the Slack integration makes it easy to share items with others, even if they do not have a New Relic account. You can share Seymour cards and associated notes with both Slack team members and Slack channels.
