Troubleshooting SSL certificate errors

On some Linux installations, when you enable SSL communication between the daemon and the New Relic servers by setting ssl=yes in the daemon configuration file, you may see errors in the daemon log file that prevent it from correctly starting up. Usually these errors indicate certificate files missing in /etc/pki.

To fix this:

  1. As root run:

    update-ca-certificates

  2. Restart the daemon by using /etc/init.d/newrelic-daemon restart.
