Key transaction alerts

In New Relic APM, you can create alert policies for your key transactions.

Alerting in New Relic

There are two alerting systems in New Relic:

  • The New Relic Alerts product
  • The basic legacy alerting system available with New Relic APM

Depending on whether you use New Relic Alerts or legacy alerting, the alert options for key transactions will be different. For an explanation of the differences between these systems, see Alerting in New Relic.

For instructions on creating alert policies and viewing alert violations for key transactions, choose the alerting system you use:

New Relic Alerts

This documentation applies if you have opted in fully to New Relic Alerts and no longer have legacy alerting. If you have both New Relic Alerts and legacy alerting, you have access to both systems. For more info, see Access to alerting systems.

Here is how to create alert policies and find violations for key transactions with New Relic Alerts:

Function How to
Find violations

You can view key transaction alert policy violations in a few ways:

  • From the key transaction index, look under the Recent key transaction events heading. Use the filter buttons to filter by alert types.
  • Each transaction in the index will have a color-coded bar on the left side with available alert info. Select the colored rectangle and then select View all violations.
  • Select a key transaction from the index. Then select Violations to see the violations for that specific key transaction.
